The Bio Blurb

Cathleen MacDonald is the Creator, Writer-Producer of the 26 part series shot on four continents, Working Animals (Discovery Canada, Animal Planet, Canal D and sold to broadcasters worldwide) and the Producer-Writer of Animal Planet Canada’s inaugural original program, The Animal IQ Test. One of her episodes for CBC’s Moving On: The Courage of Sharon won a Columbus Film Festival Award and was included in CBC’s entry for a series Gemini nomination. Recently she was the story editor for the children’s novel, “Peggy of the Cove”, the producer of Crushing It, the innovative comedy series created and delivered entirely through social media, and is producing a series of interactive educational programs that combine online and real world elements.

A former distribution executive for VEC/Criterion Pictures, Cathleen represented in the Canadian non-theatrical market the major studios including Disney/Buena Vista, Columbia, Universal, 20th Century Fox, MGM, Paramount, and producers Encyclopaedia Britannica, PBS, and Films Inc. She is the founder of Motion Picture Enterprises Inc where she produces broadcast programming, media for education and training, and multi-platform content.

Cathleen has an BFA in Film Production from York University, studied Visual Communications at The Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, and has a certificate in Television Production from the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology. She has served as a juror for industry competitions and funding agencies, and serves on the Board of Directors for a non-profit community organization. And oh yeah – she’s usually the designated driver.
